Yakutat Mill & Lumber is a division of Yak Timber Inc. whom is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yak-tat Kwaan, Inc., a 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Corporation.

Yak Timber was established in July of 2018 to harvest 21 million board feet of Yak Tat Kwaan Inc. Timber lands that remained left over from a 1979 Timber partnership with Koncor Forest Products. YAK Timber has since harvested over 15 million board feet of timber and has exported this timber to China. The five member Yak Timber board of directors also serves on the parent company nine member board.

The Yak Timber board has a chairman, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasury and four more directors. The board is very active and is responsible for a multi million dollar annual timber operations. The Timber company is under contract with International Forest Products a Kraft family company that is the fifth largest exporter in the United States. This relationship has allowed the timber company to become a major player in the Southeast Alaska timber export markets.

The approach is for YAK Timber to retain control of Yakutat Mill & Lumber to allow the division to reap the benefits of free access to management.

Yakutat Mill & Lumber will be managed by Yak Timber and will provide the day to day
management for the division. Much of the harvest production is accomplished by Yak Timber Inc and so it makes sense that Yakutat Mill and Lumber will be under the umbrella of Yak Timber Inc.
